Space beer, the result of a five-month mission to boldly grow, where almost no one has grown barley before, has landed in Japan.
... awesome.
Is this good use of tax payers money, growing barley in space? Well, it is Japansese money and not American money, let the Japanese enjoy their space beer.
As long as the water to make the beer did not come from the "space toilet".
Really...the only beer that is 100% barley? I guess they haven't heard of the German purity law in Japan. Most real beers (besides hefeweizens and some Belgian beers that contain Belgian candi sugar) are made from 100% malted barley with hops and yeast. Nothing more! Only in Japan and America (and Canada) would we add cheap corn or rice to our beer to bump up the alcohol contact and not effect the taste (or lack thereof). This sounds like something the Japs should keep for themselves.
But the 100 liters of the 5.5 percent alcoholic brew are not for sale, although tastings are being offered to some earthlings as Sapporo tries to push its brand into a new orbit.
Hmmmm.......
Clipped to Brewers Guild.
Thanks Perry. Didn't know about that group.
